The Thomastown electorate is a metropolitan electorate approximately 14 kilometres north of Melbourne and is comprised of the suburbs Thomastown, Lalor, parts of Epping, Reservoir and Wollert.
Covering an area of approximately 103 square kilometres. The Thomastown electorate has a population of just over 55,000 (as at the 2011 census) and a voting population of just over 39,000 (as at the 2014 state election). Part of the Thomastown electorate is residential and industrial. Rapid development is occurring around Epping and the north is sparsely populated.
Some of the features of the electorate include the Westgarthtown historic area, the oldest Lutheran Church in Victoria, which was built in 1856, the Northern Hospital, Pacific Epping Shopping Centre.
