CELEBRATING INNOVATIVE DESIGN IN VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOLS

Whittlesea Tech School’s innovative design – and the designers and architects who helped bring it to life – have been named as a finalist in the Victorian School Design Awards, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino announced the winners of the Victorian School Design Awards on Thursday night at an awards ceremony at ZINC at Federation Square.

Whittlesea Tech School designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke, was named a finalist in Best Project $5-10 million finalists.

The Victorian School Design Awards recognise excellence in design and the architects and designers who have provided innovative, creative and practical schools for Victorian government school students.

Architects and designers were invited to submit designs for government school projects including new schools, stages of buildings, redevelopments or refurbishments, schools designed for special needs, or facilities such as performing arts centres or technology wings completed between June 2017 and June 2019.

The Victorian Government has made an unprecedented $6.1 billion investment to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades. Under the Victorian Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will also open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school and get a great start in life.

The Victorian Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
