Families in the Epping North community will be able to send their children to a new secondary college a year earlier than expected, thanks to the Andrews Government fast tracking the delivery of Edgars Creek Secondary College. See the link below for an information Fact Sheet on the school.

The school will now open in Term 1 of 2018 instead of 2019 and will house 1,800 Year 7 to Year 12 students in outstanding facilities.

Edgars Creek Secondary College will open in two stages with Year 7 students to start first and being taught at the nearby at Mernda Central P-12 College for Terms 1 and 2, before they transition, with all teaching staff, to the new school facilities in Term 3.

In the first half of 2018, a bus will transport students from Edgars Creek to the Mernda site and parents will be able to drop off and pick up their children at a designated point to support students’ transition. See the link below regarding the Bus Route.

Edgars Creek Secondary College will operate separately to Mernda Central P-12 College. Both schools will have their own entrance and classes will be held in separate parts of the school buildings. Edgars Creek students will have access to all recreation and specialist areas to ensure a successful start to their secondary education. When the permanent site opens in Term 3 2018, the new school will provide multi-purpose learning areas, a STEM building with specialist facilities in science and technology, and a main administration and library building.

A principal for Edgars Creek Secondary College will be appointed shortly and enrolment boundaries will be determined in the near future.

Architects have been appointed and a builder has been appointed. A sod turning event will occur in June 2017 to commence construction.

This is an exciting development for Epping North and I look forward to seeing young people from this community thrive in their new learning environment.
